About Me

My photo
Brigid Kennedy
My work strikes a balance between design and improvisation, and is a play between the ephemeral and the physical. Grounded in rhythm and influenced by organic form, architectural design, culture and personal experience, my work draws on memory, imagination and play: celebrating and trusting in the unconventional, the permission to act on intuition allows for the flow of idea to action. Through research, I have discovered elemental yet elegant connections that exist between all cultures. Rooted in organic form and material, my work addresses a primal past. The materials that I work with recall our essential connection with/to the earth. My work celebrates the human spirit and what is intuitively known, yet unlearned. My sculpture is an invitation to put oneself in a place and time that is foreign yet familiar. The work embraces form, surface and color, with an emphasis on rhythm throughout. The physical process of making/creating is contemplative and completes a circle for me, connecting my work to human aspirations and insights inherent in the work process.
